Toggle FastGap® System

EDI has enhanced the efficiency of its FastGap® system for making on-line changes in product thickness and eliminated the downtime associated with lubricating the system. In the new Toggle FastGap™ system, an array of toggles takes the place of an older mechanism for effecting die-gap changes. Besides avoiding the need for lubrication, the toggles provide greater mechanical advantage in translating the adjusting torque applied by the operator into the bending force exerted upon the die lip.

The FastGap system utilizes a single-point adjustment mechanism that eliminates the need to reset the flexible-lip bolts or install an alternate lower lip with each change in product thickness. To actuate the system, the operator uses a special wrench supplied by EDI to turn an adjusting nut at one end of the die.

While the FastGap system adjusts the die gap using the lower lip, the lip manual or automatic lip adjustment system provides uniform gauge through adjustments to the flexible upper lip.
