Liberty Vacuum Systems
Most fixed lip slot die coating applications work best when air is removed from the area where the coating is flowing onto the substrate. EDI uses a vacuum box to remove air and help control the coating bead.
Typically, the vacuum box seals against the lower portion of the backing roll and against the bottom half of the die. It is also sealed at each end. The remainder of the vacuum system is used to evacuate the box and to ensure that any excess coating at the beginning or end of a coating run is collected and kept from the blower.
