Liberty Die Positioners
A die positioned brings a slot die into proper position relative to the substrate to be coated, which is typically supported by a backing roll. The backing roll itself remains fixed, and is typically included with the positioner to ensure greater precision and ease of integration. Liberty positioners provide accurate and repeatable positioning, which is an important element for successful fixed lip slot die coating applications.
The primary positioned movement is along a line running through the slot in the die toward the roll center. In a standard Liberty positioner this is a horizontal movement that provides:
- “On Coat” and “Retracted” positions, a dampened larger motion used to initiate or end a coating.
- “Splice Jump” position, a smaller retraction used to allow web splices to pass through the coating gap.
- Precision adjustment of coating gap, between die lips and substrate, using differential screws.
