Fluid Coating Line  

Fluid Coating Line Capabilities

Web coating thickness ranges from 1 to 125 microns, depending on fluid rheology, with maximum substrate width of 304.8 mm (12 in.). Nominal line speeds are 0.152 to 3.05 m (0.5 to 10 ft.) per minute.

Available dies include Ultracoat® II or V flexible lip coating heads with support system and Liberty® fixed lip system. Included are various fluid delivery systems, polished chrome plated backing roll, three hot air dryers, and a double planetary mixer.

Film Analysis Equipment

A lab for film analysis prepares sheet and film for cross sectional analysis and includes capability for micro-photographs of cross sections, measurement of overall and layer thickness, film density, coating weights, and moisture content.

Leica Microtome to prepare sheet and film for cross-sectional analysis

Ram Optical Microscope with 576x magnifications

Sartorius balance with .1mg resolution to determine film density and coating weights

Olympus MagnaMike 8500 for thickness measurement.

EDI Technology Center

 

EDI has established a comprehensive facility, the EDI Technology Center, which encompasses three fully equipment processing laboratories that companies can rent for product development and test runs and even to test-drive certain new technologies.

The EDI Technology Center expands EDI's capabilities for innovation and customer support— two values that have always set EDI apart as a supplier of die systems.

The new facility also provides engineering labs for characterizing flow and other properties of resins to be run in dies ordered by customers, and trial labs available for rent.

All of the product development and test runs you perform will be run in confidence, affirmed in a nondisclosure agreement signed by EDI.
