EDI Press ReleaseChippewa Falls Company Is Cited for ‘Extraordinary Results in International Sales’ Extrusion Dies Industries, LLC (EDI) has received an Export Achievement Award from Wisconsin governor Jim Doyle in recognition of the company’s success in developing international sales of its flat-die systems for extrusion and web converting, EDI announced today. Christopher W. Curtin, EDI vice chairman, accepted the award from Governor Doyle at a ceremony in Milwaukee on May 13 honoring eight Wisconsin agricultural and manufacturing companies for extraordinary results in international sales or contributions to the state’s ability to compete in global markets. The governor cited EDI’s 2007 export sales of US $18.7-million. “EDI builds the vast majority of the dies it exports here in Chippewa Falls, where we rely on the Chippewa Valley’s uniquely rich supply of skilled machinists and the region’s many opportunities for technical training,” said Curtin. “For a long time, export sales have been a central part of our growth strategy, and over the years we’ve invested extensive resources in developing an international network to support our customers around the world. Today, more than half of the dies we build are shipped to customers outside the United States.” EDI maintains 21 sales agents around the world, has established service centers in Germany and China, and is planning for additional centers elsewhere. At its world headquarters in Wisconsin, the company employs a team of service technicians for rapid response to customer needs and regularly dispatches these specialists to Europe, Latin America, Asia, Australia, and Africa. The Governors Award is presented annually by Governor Doyle. His office reports that Wisconsin exports grew 11% in 2007 and have nearly doubled since Doyle took office in 2003. |
