Cast & Stretch Film Processes
The cast film process is used for very tight tolerances of thin film or for low viscosity resins. Most cast film lines manufactured today are coextrusion lines, combining as many as 11 layers into the product through multi-manifold dies and distribution blocks, or single manifold dies with the aid of a coextrusion feedblock.
For stretch film applications, Nordson EDI's Autoflex™ VI-R technology combined with contour die bodies, Ultraflow™ feedblocks, and dual chamber vacuum boxes, provides processors with outstanding performance. Nordson EDI dies up to 5.8 meters wide are currently producing stretch film comprised of up to 11 layers. To further enhance productivity, Nordson EDI offers UltraSplit cleaning and handling units that are situated on the line.
Proven Nordson EDI Technology
Contour Die technology helps enhance the efficiency and performance of the line for all cast film applications by reducing the time to adjust from one product to another and provides improved film characteristics through the entire roll. Ultraflow feedblocks, which are adjustable during production and are available with selector spools, can be used for barrier films, embossed films, and cast PP applications. For premium coextrusion performance, multi-manifold dies are also available and are in high demand for wide CPP applications where the improved layer tolerances enhance both optical clarity and physical properties.
