Oriented Films
Bi-oriented Film flat die systems from EDI are used to produce films with enhanced properties by stretching the material in two directions, referred to as MD (Machine Direction) and TD (Transverse Direction). These films are typically defined by an acronym that includes the material abbreviation such as; BOPET, BOPP, BOPA, OPS, and BOPI. Other materials such as PLA or PVC are included. Biaxial films are used in food packaging and packaging/lamination, tape, photographic films, electronics, labels and over wrap. Increasing applications include sophisticated, multiple layers of five or more different structures to obtain desired properties that were once done in multiple step lamination processes. For Biaxial oriented film applications, EDI’s Multi-manifold dies, combined with Autoflex VI-R, Distribution Blocks and Melt Pipes offer film processors the performance and versatility required to achieve impending production and development demands. Application specific flat dies systems also include specialized Ultraflow Feedblocks and single manifold dies, Fastgap or a combination of all technologies. For low viscosity proximity cast applications, EDI has a complete product line consisting of Proximity casting dies and Support Systems. To ensure safe handling practices and increase downtime efficiency, Ultrasplit cleaning and handling systems come in a wide range of designs which are specialized to meet these needs. |
