Barrier Film and Sheet
Barrier Film extrusion is a growing market that requires versatile tooling solutions. This is because processors need to differentiate themselves by efficiently introducing new film structures to the market. An Accuflow I-S feedblock is fit-for-use in this environment since it has a combining geometry that can be tuned during production, allowing saving tolerances for layer uniformity to be quickly reached after a new resin is introduced to a structure. Selector Spools allow for quick and convenient changes to layer sequence arrangements. Extrusion dies will typically incorporate Contour technology for unsurpassed dimensional and thermal stability, allowing processors to return to saving tolerances quickly after a product change. The Autoflex VI-R feature provides rapid control of overall gage tolerances. A Multiflow II-G distribution channel helps to minimize layer interface distortion during coextrusion and allows for full internal deckles for convenient film width adjustment. Optional Edge Encapsulation technology prevents costly waste by removing the barrier material from the edge trim stream. There are three optional methods for Edge Encapsulation: a) Multi-manifold approach where the skin channels are wider than a central core channel to provide barrier-free edges, b) Fixed Monoside approach where miniature fixed manifolds are machined on each side of a single channel die and a separate extruder feeds the edge trim material to these side channels, c) Adjustable Monoside approach where adjustable divertor quills allow the processor to vary the width of the side encapsulation streams and internal deckles tune the overall width of the film.
