Technical Service & Development Engineer

Position Description

Extrusion Dies Industries, LLC (EDI) has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a TS&D Specialist with the Technology Group located in Chippewa Falls, WI. EDI is the largest extrusion die manufacturer in the world, manufacturing products for use in sheet, film, and coating applications. While holding a majority share globally in the extrusion die market, our strategy is to grow further our strong technical presence through application technology leadership.

The role will serve as an extrusion die industry specialist and become a part of the Technology organization with two major areas of responsibilities:

• Technical account responsibility - identifies new market opportunities and support existing business with technical expertise. Design, lead and interpret experimental laboratory and pilot coater studies to develop customized product solutions. Work with sales as part of the account team to build close customer relationships and enhance EDI's technical leadership image.


• Product/Application development projects - work with product development to develop new product solutions. Translate customer requirements and application needs into product requirements. Support customers in application of EDI technology and apply process troubleshooting methods to improve customer relations. Implement new products at customers in close cooperation with other functions (research, process research, analytical sciences, manufacturing, sales, marketing).

Other responsibilities include:

• Create EBIT by qualifying products for new customers or new applications
• Increase margin by differentiating our product offer through new design technology
• Support customer in process development and/or process improvements
• Identify customer needs and market trends in extrusion die applications
• Develop recognized expertise in application and product areas.
• Make presentations to local and global industry associations.

Qualifications

A BS, MS or PhD in a science-related discipline is required for this position. Prior experience in product development in sheet extrusion, film extrusion, extrusion coating, and specialty applications industries is strongly preferred. Experience providing technical service & development support to customers also strongly desired. Ability to travel domestic and internationally 30-50% of any given month is required.
